The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE) Nepal provides cutting edge, paid traineeships for Nepali students in over 90 countries worldwide and international students in Nepal. IAESTE is an organization for the exchange of students at higher education institutions wishing to obtain technical experience abroad.

IAESTE also brings the tailor made international experts as intern for short or long term traineeships within the local companies and academic institutes in Nepal. It is a reciprocal exchange, so for every overseas student placed in Nepal, we are able to send a Nepali student into the international workplace with a paid traineeship. IAESTE was established in Nepal in 2013, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister of Nepal inaugurated IAESTE Nepal on June 14, 2017 amidst a opening ceremony in Kathmandu.

Established in 1948 in UK, IAESTE is a global organization with over 90 member countries. IAESTE is the largest organization of its kind in the world and aims to promote international understanding and goodwill amongst students, academic institutions, employers and the wider community having its working relationship with many international organizations such as UN, European Union, UN ECOSOC, OECED, British Council and DAAD.

As an official representative of IAESTE, Civil Initiative manages all IAESTE activities with the support from academic institutes, industries and government organizations in Nepal. Civil Initiative is a Nepal based non-government and non-profit organization working for educational opportunities and intercultural cooperation. It has also been providing Civil Scholarships to disadvantaged high school level students in collaboration with Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA).

IAESTE is open to students in technical fields such as engineering, sciences , and applied arts , and students must have completed their 3rd year of studies prior to undertaking a traineeship. Traineeships can be from as little as 4 weeks up to a whole year, however most positions are 3-6 months. All traineeships are paid, and accommodation and visas are arranged by IAESTE, both in Nepal and the host country. The international IAESTE network also means you will have an instant group of contacts and friends when you arrive!
